ISTE Working Group
The International Society for Technology in Education has a page on Facebook for their Virtual Environments Network. I’m not sure how active it is (as of Sept 2016). They also have an in-world group (see below).
SLed, The Second Life Educators List
This listserv began in 2007, I think. It is less active now, but if you have a question, there’s usually someone around to answer it. Don’t be shy; many active teachers contribute to the list, and questions are answered at all levels of expertise.

In-World Groups (contact through the “groups” menu)
Some of these groups, Like the Virtual Worlds Educators Roundtable, meet very often. Others meet only when there’s an upcoming event.
Gimp Girl
A support group for women with disabilities in Second Life. Members who are not in Second Life can join meetings through IRC chat; some meetings are limited to women with disabilities, but there are many open ones as well.

Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender Violence
The Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Violence in Second Life parallels the actual event maintained by Rutgers University and features panel discussions, workshops, presentations, art exhibits, poetry readings, and live music. It is fueled by the participation of over a dozen activist SL groups, and many dozens of individuals.
Second Life contact: changes yearly. Use the group dialogue box.
The Virtual Worlds Educators Roundtable
This group is active in many virtual worlds, including Second Life. Held at Glasgow Caledonia University sim.
